      @jac It’s not their problem - it’s the maintainer of the third party library they use. The below CSS will resolve that

      img.not-responsive.emoji.emoji-android.emoji--skin-tone-2 { display: none; }

      Ah I understand mate, thank you for all these very good changes mate, fantastic!!

      Yes, but the idea is for discussion to be balanced rather than one-sided.

      @gotwf yeah, good points. I’d consider myself proficient in JS so for me it’s more of a learning curve coming from MySQL (and hence phpMyAdmin).

      @phenomlab Well… it is complicated… My journey is long, not the end all, be all, and likely require a substantial beelog post.

      But yeah, as mentioned in one of my bee log articles I linked to somewhere else hereabouts, the big trifecta are 1) Web browser, 2) Terminal, and 3) Editor. Those last two are all command line driven whilst the fist is predominantly gui/rodent driven. Of course there are some one off apps here and there that are predominantly gui driven but they are not part of my daily fare, used to rarely to be of consequence. So, go figure what percentages of time you may spend in each. Maybe, just maybe, that DE is getting in your way more than accelerating productivity? Just maybe… maybe not.

      @marusaky Good post. The real issue with Flarum is that even the most minor of changes requires a extension, which is crazy. With NodeBB, you can make changes on the fly very easily, and without too much effort.

      There is an element of learning when it comes to making changes to any platform, but Javascript is not difficult at all once you get used to it, and there’s also extensive support for jQuery (and hundreds of code snippets on the internet you can easily adapt and tailor to your own needs)

      For years, phpBB used to reign supreme - now it’s incredibly dated, and always did have the most confusing admin panel I’ve ever seen.

      @qwinter yes, zoom backgrounds work in Linux also, but only for supported CPU and graphics cards. There’s also green screen support which I haven’t tested, so can’t really comment on it’s effectiveness (also not willing to splash out on a professional green screen which I’d seldom use).

      I’ve chosen the Windows 11 primary route for the time being as I unfortunately need the integration. I’m pleasantly surprised by Windows 11 in fact, and it is entirely possible to control the privacy settings - there’s a dedicated section for this.

      @qwinter agreed. It’s like the ridiculously low fine levied against Facebook for breaching privacy laws. Because the breach happened one month before GDPR came into effect, they got off with a pathetically low fine and nothing more than a slap on the wrist.

      It’s almost a license for them to do as they please with no ramifications whatsoever.

      @qwinter I guess I’m a traditionalist, or perhaps old fashioned. I still use notepad and notepad++ for note taking during meetings. I like the simplicity and rawness and I’ll often use both for a scratchpad when needed.

      for me it is joplin 😄

      I use Joplin and use my empty OneDrive for synchronization (with E2EE) from all of my devices.
